Principles

The Gospel Reckoning exists to speak truth with love, to confront injustice with compassion, and to serve the common good.

These principles are commitments we place over ourselves, not expectations we place on others. They guide how we work, how we speak, how we respond, and how we handle power, money, and attention.

We do not claim to meet them perfectly.
We commit to returning to them honestly.

1. Love before victory

We do not seek to “win” arguments at the cost of people.

We speak firmly when needed, but never with cruelty.
We respond to hostility with restraint, dignity, and humanity.
No cause justifies dehumanisation.

2. Truth without distortion

We aim to speak truthfully, carefully, and in good faith.

We avoid exaggeration, fear-mongering, and deliberate provocation.
When we are wrong, we acknowledge it.
When we are uncertain, we say so.

3. Justice rooted in compassion

We care about poverty, homelessness, inequality, and abuse of power — not as abstractions, but as lived realities.

We refuse indifference.
We also refuse hatred.

Justice, for us, is inseparable from compassion.

4. Money serves the work

Money exists to support the mission — not to shape it.

No individual profits from this project.
All income, whether from donations, music, or content, is used to fund the work itself.

Money serves the work. The work never serves money.

5. Integrity over growth

We would rather remain small and honest than large and hollow.

We will not chase reach, revenue, or relevance at the expense of conscience.
Opportunities that compromise our values will be declined.

6. Accountability to the people we speak about

We aim to listen before we speak — especially about communities and experiences not our own.

We resist speaking over people in favour of standing with them.
We welcome correction offered in good faith.

7.Non-exploitation of suffering

We do not use suffering, tragedy, or outrage as content.

Stories of pain are treated with care, consent where possible, and restraint.
No person’s hardship exists to build our platform.

8. Ongoing reflection and growth

These principles are not static.

As we learn, grow, and encounter new realities, we may refine how they are expressed — but not the spirit behind them.

We commit to reflection, humility, and course correction.

This project is an act of conscience, not certainty.
An offering, not a performance.
