A Beginning

There is no shortage of noise in the world.

Everyone is shouting. Everyone is certain. Everyone is trying to be heard. In the middle of all that, something quieter often gets lost — conscience, compassion, and the space to reflect honestly.

The Gospel Reckoning exists because we wanted to create a place that resists that noise rather than adding to it.

This is not a project built on outrage or certainty. It is a space for reflection, music, poetry, and thoughtful commentary on the things that shape our shared lives — poverty, inequality, faith, power, and responsibility. We care about justice deeply, but we care just as deeply about how we speak about it.

We believe truth matters. We also believe how truth is spoken matters.

This journal will hold reflections rather than reactions. Sometimes those reflections will be challenging. Sometimes they will be gentle. They will always aim to be honest, humane, and rooted in good faith.

There are no grand promises here. No claims to have all the answers. Only a commitment to speak with integrity, to listen as well as to speak, and to return again and again to compassion when it would be easier to harden.

If you choose to spend time here, you’re welcome.
Read quietly. Reflect. Take what is useful. Leave the rest.

This is a beginning.
